FP3 Condominium — In-Unit Kitchen Remodel Project
Decisions Made
- Proceed with Dekton for backsplash (three pieces, seamed).
- Review and approve FWWebb hardware quote.
- Select appliance pull option and confirm finish coordination.

Recent Updates from Renee (March 2026)
Backsplash Discussion (Mar 9, 2026)
Renee raised questions about using 0.4cm Dekton material for the backsplash:
- Potential to precut and reseal pieces (three clean cuts from full slab, rejoin with dark silicone to minimize veining changes).
- Concerns about thinness for one piece spanning the range area; suggests seaming on either side of the range.
- Exposed edge on left: polish or add small metal band (prefers polishing).
- Alternatives if not: glass backsplash or tiles matching brown veining to avoid seaming issues.
- Height: Pieces up to 10' long; how tall is the elevator?
- Bookmatching countertop to backsplash and across backsplash recommended.
Korrine's options brainstorm:
- Paint only (not preferred).
- Three pieces with thin brass connectors (meh).
- Two pieces + stainless steel behind range (color mismatch with brass/gold scheme).
- Tile (concerns: cleaning behind stove, grout; likes thin cream tile samples sent by Renee).
Cabinet hardware: Quote from FWWebb (Joann Lucas helping; she knows Renee). Review sink, faucet, pulls via part numbers (attached in email).
Dekton Backsplash Preference (Mar 10, 2026)
Renee recommends staying with Dekton if fabricator can do thoughtful job:
- Use three pieces, seamed on sides of range.
- Cut and reassemble to handle ~1mm diamond blade cut; minimize veining change by selecting area carefully.
- Match countertop veining on rise to backsplash, but prioritize overall backsplash consistency.
- Polish exposed left edge (thinks it looks fine; metal band optional).
Action: Confirm fabricator details and feasibility with Robert.
Appliance Pulls for Cabinets (Mar 11, 2026)
The selected cabinet style does not include an appliance pull, so Renee suggested complementary options with careful coordination of finishes for a cohesive look with slab doors.
Hardware and On-Site Prep (Mar 12, 2026)
From Robert:
- Exploratory cut in vertical post: Steel I-beam (not vintage wood)—impacts any modifications.
- Prepped for mechanical shutdowns starting Mar 24.
- Demolition (flooring/cabinets) begins Mar 24.
- Flooring ordered; processing tomorrow (Mar 13).
